Serving Themis (Simultaneous audio translation to English is available)

"SERVING THEMIS" is our interpretation of "THE BREAKDOWN"(Die Panne) a novel by Friedrich Durrenmatt (1958).

Alfredo Traps, a salesman, is traveling across the Swiss countryside. His car breaks down in the middle of nowhere. While his car is being towed for repair, Alfredo is invited to have a late dinner with four men living in a small town nearby. They ask Alfredo to join them in a game the four play with their guests. The salesman soon learns that he is sitting with a judge, a public prosecutor, a lawyer and an executioner, all retired. Alfredo is offered the role of the accused and he agrees to play it. His trial begins, but is it really a game? Where is the line between a game and reality, a criminal and an innocent? Do we see the world the way it is or the way we are?
